The Library at Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) serves as a cutting-edge knowledge hub, fostering connections among staff, students, industry professionals, the local community, and the wider public.

As members of the Consortium of Uganda University Libraries (CUUL), the MMU Library boasts a comprehensive collection of relevant, current resources in both print and electronic formats.

Who we serve

Open to MMU students, staff, alumni, and affiliated individuals, the library plays a pivotal role in supporting the university’s core functions of learning, teaching, research, and community service through collaborative efforts with its faculties. Our dedicated team is ready to assist with any library-related inquiries, and we appreciate your visit to the MMU Library webpage. MISSSION

To satisfy the information needs and expectations of each individual user, through the provision and exploitation of information resources and services in order to promote and support teaching, learning, research and service to the community.

LIS OBJECTIVES

The LIS specific objectives are to:

  1. Acquire, process, organize and make accessible relevant and current information materials,
  2. Provide relevant information materials and services that enable users to acquire current and relevant information,
  3. Facilitate the creation, communication and dissemination of knowledge
  4. Train users on information literacy skills in order to facilitate full exploitation of information resources,
  5. Provide adequate and conducive study and learning environment for users.

Check-out and return of library materials (books, journals, multimedia, etc.); Renewal of borrowed items; Holds and reservations for high-demand materials.

Assistance in locating and using library resources; Research assistance and guidance on information retrieval; Help with citation styles and bibliography creation.

Information Literacy Instruction

Workshops and training sessions on information literacy skills; Orientation programs for new students to familiarize them with library resources.

Electronic Resources and Database Access

Access to a wide range of electronic databases, e-journals, and e-books;  Assistance with navigating and using electronic resources effectively.

Technology and Computing Services

Computer workstations for research and study; Assistance with library-related software and technologies.

Special Collections and Archives

Access to rare books, manuscripts, archives, and special collections; Assistance in utilizing unique and historical materials.
